Rusty’s Reading List 2016 | January 15, 2016

It seems that January is the time for re-reading poetry chapbooks written by friends.

The thing I really, REALLY like about this work by Magpie is that, as with much written poetry, at first glance, it seems very different from what we hear as Spoken Word. In Magpie’s case, however, all I have to do it picture her voice to realize that it is not that different after all. Presentation IS a piece of art, but it is not the only piece.

This particular chapbook is from 2012, just past the half-way point from when I first saw Magpie perform, in early 2006.

I was really glad we got to host her at VERSeFest in… what was it, 2014?

Great poet.
