I bought this on a whim after going into Mags & Fags thinking the new Arc Magazine was out. It wasn’t, so I picked up a different poetry mag on spec. I didn’t realize that it was actually a high school student magazine.

There is both poetry and short fiction in here, and the poetry stands out, relatively. The short fiction mostly reminds me what I don’t like about the current style of short fiction, generally. (It should stand on its own! It shouldn’t read like it is a scene in a longer work!)

‘Botany for Beginners’ by Hannah Knowles was an exception. I quite enjoyed where it took me.

Some of the poetry is nice. A lot of it read like it was coming from someone who was just learning their voice, but that is okay because it is true. It is true of all of us.
