Rusty’s Reading List 2016 | July 12, 2016

seven-dollar-bill

I have read this chapbook before, but it found its way back into my to-read pile, and I was okay with that.

This is a poetry flip book, with Chris Gilpin on one side and Sean McGarragle on the other.  thought they toured in 2010, but copyright on it says 2009, so I could just be wrong.

I have known both of them since 2008. I am pretty sure Sean was at CFSW in 2007, but I can’t recalling MEETING him there. I have specific mentions of talking to Chris in 2008 about how much he looked like Kevin Matthews at that time (I don’t see it as much now), and sitting at a table with Sean, Dave Silverberg and Dwayne Morgan and absorbing collective ‘running a show’ knowledge.

Side note: After we created the National Slam Master position in… 2011, I think… someone asked why I didn’t get the job. I told him then when I have questions about running a slam, I ask Sean.

Backstory over – back to the chapbook. It is good, strong work. There are times that I can hear their voices clearly, and other times I feel like I am learning something new about their brains and pens.

Nice work, friends.
