Rusty’s Reading List 2017 | May 9, 2017

This a chapbook but one of the most talented poets to grace the national spoken word stages. I don’t know what year it is from and I don’t recall when I got it, but I had known Mary since 2009 so it could have been any number of places.

Mary’s work feels just as comfortable on the page as on the stage. I recall when her Edmonton team won the national championship in 2011 that her work felt so… refreshing. There were a lot of ‘gimmicks’ on the stage, and as great as they were, it was wonderful to hear some poetry carried simply on the strength of the writing.

Mary Pinkoski is one of the most talented poets I know.
