Rusty's World

Rusty’s Reading List 2017 | October 9, 2017

Even if you don’t recognize his name, you would recognize his face. Stephen Tobolowsky is an actor who has appeared in A LOT of  stuff. He was in Deadwood, Heroes, Groundhog Day, and lots more. Somewhere along the way he became a story teller. He featured at the Ottawa Storytelling Festival (the same year that the Copper Conundum featured, I think). He was entertaining and engaging. We bought his book and got it signed.
I am finally reading it.
It is still entertaining and engaging. I like biographies are creative people and while this isn’t a biography per se, the stories are all biographical.
The really problem is how many times I felt jerked out of the story. Like the time he said that ‘the multiculturalism fad has thankfully passed’. Out of nowhere, for no purpose. Elsewhere he said that he found out he was lifting in a predominantly gay neighbourhood, which was a surprise to him because he was used to ‘normalcy’. Or the trans-mocking in one part.
He is a good storyteller but I won’t read this again.
